I listen to all kinds of stuff and sometimes go beyond my usual preferences just to broaden my musical horizon. This time, Totally Mixed Up presents this fresh and unique mix from our youngest and newest contributor to the blog, DJ Aliana.
A bedroom DJ, but daydreams a lot of being in a club one day and maneuvering those CDJs, DJ Aliana's earlier exposure to music was through those classical pieces she learned to play on both violin and piano. She also was in a band in her college days playing alternative stuff when she suddenly discovered those pulsating beats of electronic music and started hitting clubs, then eventually became obsessed with the likes of Daft Punk and the rest is history. Tracklist: Martin Buttrich - Programmer Virtualmismo - Mismoplastico (Serge Santiago Maxi Edit) Red Robbin & Jakob Hilden - Snapdragon (Original Mix) Lindstrom - I Feel Space (M.A.N.D.Y. Remix) KG - Zwanenburgbaan (Original Mix) Deadmau5 - 1981 (Minimal Mix) Moonbeam - Night Traffic (Original Mix) Peter Horrevorts - Labyrinth Huggy and Dean Newton - 747 (Original Mix) Sasha - Coma (Gabe & Dimitri Nakov Remix) Check out the rest of the blogpost and mixset via... http://totallymixedup.blogspot.com/2009/11/what-is-real-trip-back-into-minimal.html

Here's somethin' to perk up and start your week right... more FRESH RETRO DISCO goodies. I'm really quite excited and proud to share a different kind of mix from him, as his usual forte is 80s New Wave and obscure tunes, but this time, he's experimenting on some 80s disco/pop stuff and also in digital mode. ( i guess he was somewhat bitten by the digital bug like most of us, hehehe) and as expected... voila! still an incredible set that he delightfully shared to all Totally Mixed Up followers and visitors alike.
What do you get when you infuse some rap/hip hop elements to synth-based electronic 80s-style sound? Then definitely, Jane Bang must be in the house.
An LA cum NY based artist, who merges rap with electronic & synth based styles. With flaunting provocative lyrics and a distinct edgy appearance, she creates a colorful presence that differentiates her from other MC's.
Jane's fearless approach has extended to the turntables, mixing East coast attitude with West coast dance-craze and she's planted seeds throughout New York City (Tokyo Bar, Beauty Bar, Happy Ending, Love, Hope, The Skinny) and is going international this fall. So better check her out guys whenever.
Still in the tradition of being open to all sorts of genres, Totally Mixed Up gives you a unique mix sampler sent to me by one of our newest DJ contributor to the blog and I hope everyone enjoys her different style and approach in mixing. A must-have for all modern-day electro lovers out there with a rap/hip hop twist. Also great for those who want to hear something new and refreshing. *Originally known as 99.5 RT from 1976 to 2006, as Hit 99.5 from 2007 to March 19, 2008, and as Campus 99.5 from March 23 to August 14, 2008. On September 1, 2008, the frequency reverted back to the 99.5 RT brand. *Most of Metro Manila's legendary deejays honed their skills in RT, including Mike Pedero, who initiated the Top 40/CHR format of the station, Joppy, Al W. Leader, Dr. John Madness, Eric Caine, Adam Kite, Brian Panty, Joey Pizza, The Kaizer, Johnny Ceasar (now with RJ 100), Jeremiah Junior, Bob Kcurry, The Mighty Thor, Paul Reno, North Andrew (now Program Director of MTV Philippines), Jake Swann, Boo Kyler (now with 103 1/2 Max FM), Jiggy, OB Hollywood Andrew, Dick Rees, Joe Schmoe, Mark Cross, Joshua and Vince St. Price. The RT deejay became the gold standard for all other deejays in the Philippines. Incidentally, Eric Caine is my mom's cousin, which makes him my second-degree uncle... hmmm... just suddenly realized why I have this great passion for music, DJ'ing/mixing and radio. A big thanks to The Boy Wonder of The Vault for giving me the opportunity to be in radio even though in an indirect way via my mixes/remixes/music archives being broadcasted via The Vault on Live 365. Enjoy today's mix set c/o of yours truly, which is a sample of RT's playlist back in the day, when it was still in its heyday and playing the best music indeed. More music, less talk. I've compiled most of the tracks all heard from 99.5 RT, which usually accompanied me on my way to school or work and served as the soundtrack of my younger days. Tracklist: 1) Better Than You - Lisa Keith 2) Baby Baby - Amy Grant 3) Hold You Tight - Tara Kemp 4) Really Into You - Around The Way 5) Close My Eyes - Jordan Knight 6) Human Nature - Michael Jackson 7) My Lovin' - En Vogue 8) Looking Through Patient Eyes - PM Dawn 9) You Gotta Be - Des'Ree 10) Vibe - Zhane 11) I Wanna Love You - Jade 12) Am I The Same Girl - Swing Out Sister 13) Connected - Stereo MCs Check out the entire article, mix preview and DL link... http://totallymixedup.blogspot.com/2009/08/tribute-to-original-rhythm-of-city-995.html
NEW YORK (AP) -- Writer-director John Hughes, Hollywood's youth impresario of the 1980s and '90s who captured and cornered the teen and pre-teen market with such favorites as "Home Alone," "The Breakfast Club" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," died Thursday, a spokeswoman said. He was 59. Hughes died of a heart attack during a morning walk in Manhattan, Michelle Bega said. He was in New York to visit family. A native of Lansing, Mich., who later moved to suburban Chicago and set much of his work there, Hughes rose from ad writer to comedy writer to silver screen champ with his affectionate and idealized portraits of teens, whether the romantic and sexual insecurity of "Sixteen Candles," or the J.D. Salinger-esque rebellion against conformity in "The Breakfast Club." Hughes' ensemble comedies helped make stars out of Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy and many other young performers. He also scripted the phenomenally popular "Home Alone," which made little-known Macaulay Culkin a sensation as the 8-year-old accidentally abandoned by his vacationing family, and wrote or directed such hits as "National Lampoon's Vacation," "Pretty in Pink," "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" and "Uncle Buck."
